Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Hey, guys! Check it out two posts in one week and it’s not even a holiday.  Ingrid’s getting crazy!  There have been a few comments left about me only posting on holidays and not posting much, so I’m hoping everyone’s happy now.  The commenters might also be the very same two people who are also posting about Cinnamon Swirl Bread  today.  :)

Cinnamon Swirl Bread was actually Monica’s challenge choice for May but we got a late start and pushed it back to June.  She chose Peter Reinhart’s recipe from The Bread Baker's Apprentice.

Eaten straight out of hand, the kids and I were a bit unimpressed with the flavor but when we toasted and buttered a slice it went from “just okay” to delicious.  Add in some cinnamon and brown sugar to the butter and we’re talking serious cinnamon heaven!  (So good in fact, Jalen asked me to make more bread and we hadn’t finished the two loaves I just made!)  Besides using the bread to make some kicked up cinnamon toast I also made bread pudding.  Some very good bread pudding though if you ask Devon he’ll tell you it would have been better with bananas.  :)

With my lackluster photos and post I haven’t really done this bread justice so hop over to Michelle and Monica’s blogs to check out their bread (&  get the recipe).  FYI, Michelle might have mentioned something about cinnamon chips and you know Monica will have some amazing photos.  Get going…..

Your bread looks beautiful! Are you sure you don't love to make bread??!!
I took a class once from Peter Reinhart. He's the nicest man who knows a ton about yeast and starters and can talk all day long about it! I love people like that!

Have a great day Ingrid!

WOW! You did a beautiful job on the bread. Cinnamon Swirl is one of my favorite breads. So much easier than cinnamon rolls. : )

Hey girl, I'm not doing Peckerwood Gravy anymore, which is on your Good Reading list. I am now:

Kansas City Gravy Company

Please add the new site to replace the old one......pretty please with cinnamon on top!!!

Ingrid, what a beautiful loaf of bread. Twice in a week, I think you are spoiling your kids with your home baked goodies. Once you go down that road there is no going back...

Ahhh! I forgot to add "cheeseball" to my post. Dang! Thanks Michelle for reminding me :-)

Your swirl looks great Ingrid. I love how our breads all look so different, but that's what keeps it fun and interesting.

Well you better get baking another loaf or two for Jalen. I've gotta make more for Sam. These boys just think we can whip it right up!

Can't wait for next month's challenge- woo hoo!

I had some catching up to do, Ingrid!
I LOVE the fruit pizza and the pineapple curd! (why didn't I think of that?)
And that S'mores snack cake is deadly. Of course, I copied it right away. :)

As for your cinnamon bread: it's always better toasted, isn't it? My dad used to mix butter, honey and cinnamon and spread it all over his cinnamon toast.
I remember in boarding school, we used to scramble to get hot toast with cinnamon sugar on it. So anything combining cinnamon and bread has been a favorite in my family for a long time.

And I can imagine what a fabulous bread pudding it would make too!
With cream. Mmmmmm.

Happy 4th to you and yours!

I have been craving cinnamon buns and bread for about a week now! This sounds so good toasted and made into French toast. It doesn't look like it has a whole lot of cinnamon in it - I wonder if doubling that swirl would make it better.

Ingrid, awesome bread. I would love to have the recipe for the bread pudding. Great job.
