The official start of Fall was just the other day and while it’s still hotter than Hades here (FL) I know some of you are already enjoying cooler weather. With the Fall season underway many of you are breaking out those Fall spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Those of you who have read my blog for awhile know cinnamon and nutmeg are spices that I happily use all year long. While I don’t grate my own cinnamon I do grate nutmeg as I need it. I use this handy dandy gadget by Microplane and I love it. You can definitely see and smell the difference between the ground bottled stuff and the freshly grated.

I'm glad your feeling better Ingrid, the flu is running rampant here n the schools, it's crazy! My favorite fall dessert would definitely have apples in it, which brings to mind the chopped apple cake I make. I love it!!!

My favorite fall treat to bake would have to be pumpkin whoopie pies. Of course, anything that makes my kitchen smell like cinnamon and/or nutmeg is wonderful too! :)

I have a sudden (and almost unhealthy) obsession with all things pumpkin.. (I never liked it until this year..) so anything with pumpkin in it! Especially pumpkin cheesecake.

My favorite gadget is a shot glass sized measuring cup that measures ounces, tablespoons and teaspoons. I broke it the other day (WAAHH!) and WalMart didn't have them anymore! :(

My favorite kitchen gadget is my bench scraper. I use it all the time, not just to cut dough and clean but to cut bars, lift chopped veggies. I see it as an extension of my hand. he he.
My favorite fall dessert will be those pumpkin snickerdoodle bars- they are so mamazing. Prior to that I would have to say Concord Grape Pie.

As for a Fall flavor, it's gotta be pumpkin. Plain ole' pumpkin pie is my favorite, though I've got a crazy good pumpkin cream cheese bread recipe too.

My favorite gadget has got to be a working can opener. This weekend Husband and I finally purchased a manual to replace the terribly moody electric can opener we received as a wedding gift. Favorite fall dessert is definitely warm apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream.

Favorite gadget...bench scraper followed closely by my lemon press juicier thingy (very low tech, but makes juicing lemons SOO much faster!)

Cool! I've never had a nutmeg grater and I hear that's the way to go with nutmeg. My favorite fall dessert is pumpkin bars with cream cheese topping OR pumpkin crunch bars - yum. My favorite gadget? Cheese graters - I have a few and use them all the time - the PC one doesn't work so well though.
And in response to the pb/prunes since you don't like pb, maybe you could try almond butter on prunes? Or any other nut butters - it's an easy snack anyway:)

My mini food processor. I use it for everything. I am a graham cracker crust junkie, so I am using this all the time to turn 10 graham crackers into crust in seconds. Love it!!!

My fav gadget is my food sealer. I got a freezer last year and love stocking it up with fruits and veggies during the summer and the food saver helps keep everything fresh.

Fresh ground nutmeg is such a treat. Believe it or not my mom adds it to her coffee grounds. And although I don't drink coffee, she swears it adds an incredible layer of flavor. As for m favorite Fall dessert, while most people are crazy for apples, I prefer mine unbaked. I instead crave spicy carrot cake. Yuuuuummmmm.

The only way I'll use nutmeg is to freshly grate it - any other kind is just so inferior after you get used to fresh grated. I love my microplane grater for that!
This morning I woke up wanting something pumpkin... it's finally Autumn, after all, so perhaps it'll be pumpkin cheesecake. That's my FAVORITE fall dessert :)

It IS still SO SO hot here in Florida, oy! I've been hearing everyone talk of Fall lately, and I'm very jealous. It's hard to think of fall when its still 90 out there. My favorite kitchen gadget is my Beater Blade - its a blade for the kitchenaid mixer with silicone fins on it, so it literally scrapes the bowl as it mixes - this little thing saves me SO much time when baking! My favorite fall dessert? Hmm, tough one. Either yummy moist Pumpkin muffins, or gingerbread cupcakes with lemon frosting. Slurp slurp!!
