Yoplait Splitz, A Review & Giveaway

YoplaitSplitzLogo

Yoplait and MyBlogSpark  recently gave me the opportunity to review Yoplait’s Splitz.  They also very generously offered me the opportunity to give you a chance to win the same prize pack.  My package contained a cooler bag, a roll-up picnic blanket, and a coupon for a free four pack of Yoplait’s Splitz.

The main yogurt eater in my house is Babygirl so she was my official taste tester.   She loved it.  So much so, she’s been eating one every morning since I purchased the first pack!  I’m okay with that because each serving is only 90 calories, has no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, or sweeteners.  Plus, it’s a good source of calcium and vitamin D.  (If you’d like to read more nutritional info on the Splitz, click here.) Win-win and I don’t have to battle with her over what to eat for breakfast.  The only other thing  she said was that she wished the portions were a little bigger.  :)

For a chance to win  this ------------------> Click over to Yoplait and tell me what flavor Splitz you think you’d like to try!  Don’t forget to leave a way for me to contact you!

A random winner will be selected on Sunday, October 3rd and the winner will be announced on Monday, October 4th!  Good luck!

Thank you to Yoplait and MyBlogSpark for providing me with a prize pack and the opportunity to give one away to you.  And so we’re absolutely clear the opinions written here are my 11 year old daughter’s and she did not get anything for giving them!

Guest Blogger: Lick The Bowl Good

Hello Everyone! I am Monica from Lick The Bowl Good and I was asked by Ingrid to be a guest blogger here on her blog while she's away on vacation. Ingrid and I have become great friends over the last year and a half, so of course I said YES! I am honored to be here and thank you for having me.

Originally I wasn't sure what recipe I wanted to share with you. Would I share something savory? Or would I treat you with cookies (which he doesn't like to make) or chocolate and raisins (which she despises)? In the end, I wanted whatever I featured on this blog to reflect Ingrid's personality and her blog style. I also still wanted her to be my friend and I knew if I made something with raisins in it, that she'd stop talking to me. ha ha!

So today I have a special cookie for you. I made these for McKenna's 11th birthday last month. I made snowflake sugar cookies for them over the holidays and they all really enjoyed them. So much so that Ingrid decided to make some for the dessert table at her brother's wedding. She used the same recipe I did, but for some reason McKenna claims mine were better. I'm not sure if that's true or if that's just what Ingrid told me so she wouldn't have to make them again :-) Either way, McKenna asked nicely so I sent her some in a surprise birthday package.

Ingrid said I could make and decorate them in any way I wanted, so I decided to turn to my Message In A Cookie Cutters that I got from Williams-Sonoma. I planned on doing pink and purple and was immediately shut down. Ingrid told me she's not a girly girl and that she prefers blues, greens and yellows. I still wanted them to be somewhat feminine, young and fun so I settled on purple, lime green and a dark peacock blue. I cut them into hearts and scalloped rectangles then accented them with white royal icing for contrast and added sweetness. They were then bagged and tagged with these sweet embossed stickers given to me by my friend Janet. I think this completes the package- thanks Janet!

Rather than typing out the recipe, I'll just link to it back on my blog since it's lengthy. The recipe for the sugar cookies can be found HERE. Thank you all for allowing me to share a recipe and photos with you. I hope you enjoy them. Ingrid has a picture of McKenna with her cookies so maybe if you ask nicely she'll share it with you when she returns!

My little tree hugger

Here's picture of Babygirl holding one of our neighbor's kitties. She's a tree hugger in the making. Since before she could clearly say veterinarian she has known that she wants to be one. She has always loved animals and shown no fear of them even when they are growling at her. Living in Florida there are always critters (yikes) of some sort running around, she'd be in heaven accept I am a mean, mean mom and won't get her a pet. She is left visiting all the neighbors and their pets. She knows every cat and dog in a 10 house radius. It's kinda funny as neighbors I don't really know will tell her hello and ask her hows she's doing. Most often she doesn't know their name only that of their pet.

She is a huge fan of Animal Planet and all its various shows. When she firsted watching her shows, she would try and take notes, constantly shouting out for us to spell various words. She had just started school and I would tell her to sound it out but often the Twins would tell her tobe quiet and just watch. LOL! She constantly quotes animal facts that she has learned. She doesn't always get it exactly right but because she talks with such authority no one questions her!

It's not just animals but insects, too. We live in the bug capital of America, if not the world and we either have to kill 'em in secret or holler for her to catch 'em. If she's not looking, I admit I kill 'em. Sorry, I don't like bugs. She also asks questions about trees and plants and whether they are alive in the way that we, humans and animals are. That was a difficult question to answer.
While she isn't a vegetarian she really doesn't eat a lot of meat. I wouldn't, though be surprised if one day she becomes one. She's a sweet kid and I love her!
