Brioche Baking Babes!

This is going to be short and uh, bready.  Monica, Michelle, and I baked brioche for this month’s challenge.

March was my month to choose a challenge and I chose  brioche. Golden Brioche to be exact, which I found on epicurious

It’s hard to believe that less than a year ago I was petrified of baking with yeast and now I’m baking brioche.  Wait, I’m not only baking brioche I’m choosing to bake it. Wow!

My experience with brioche and in particular this recipe is that it’s not hard, just time intensive.  You’re probably thinking then was it worth it?  Yes and no.  Yes, because it’s another step towards total confidence in the kitchen especially when using yeast and working with dough. No because while very good, it’s time intensive!  I work and have a family.  Free time for that kind of baking is scarce.  I will say this. It did make a fantastic banana bread pudding.  So good that it actually has me thinking hard about baking brioche again but that’s for another post.

For the recipe and to find out how Michelle and Monica fared with this recipe hippity hop over to their blogs!  :)

Hope you have a safe and blessed Easter!

  16. It looks wonderful! I felt the same way you did when I made brioche. Very good, but too much time involved. I stopped the BBA challenge because everything in the book takes 2-3 days! LOL

  24. I've looked at brioche recipes time and again, but I don't have the uh, woman-power to stir it by hand as traditionally required (I'm a stickler) and, like you, I don't have days to give to it! I'll live vicariously through you. Looks soooo good.

  26. Brioche is one of the most glorious breads. Rich, but glorious! Well done - particularly for being scared of yeast only 12 months ago.

P.S. I hope you like the lemon bundt cake! :)

  27. Love all your B's Ingrid!
I went the brioche route last winter (still haven't posted it!) and made some dulce de leche brioche. It was sheer heaven.
And you're right, it IS time intensive, but so worth it!
    Happy Easter to you!

  30. I am soooo intimidated by making anything with yeast.
Your story is inspiring me, and so is the brioche.
Of course I would start with something much simpler, like those yummy looking butterhorns!

  38. I have been longing for years to re-create a brioche filled with chocolate that we ate when we were on vacation years ago -- no luck yet! My attempts at plain brioche have been pretty dry so far. Maybe that's a challenge I need to take up and pursue again. If you hear of any great chocolate brioche recipes . . . let me know!

  39. My friend, you are light yrs ahead of me. This is one bread that I have not tried. YOU are an inspiration, my dear and sweet friend!

  40. Your brioche is beautiful Ingrid! Wow. I would say it's something I'll run out and try myself, but I'm still a little leary of baking with yeast! I'll just look at your pictures and dream of eating it with banana pudding! :)

  41. I hate baking with yeast because I always overknead everything. I have a bread machine now, though...maybe I can make brioche in that! Your looks lovely.
