We Interrupt Your Normally Scheduled Post to Bring you….

a review and giveaway!  Your nutella marshmallow mousse post will be back next week in it’s normally scheduled spot.  :)  In it’s place we have margarine.  Not any ol’ margarine but I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! margarine.

Last month I received an email from Lauren asking if I’d be interested in trying a couple of recipes that called for the margarine, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!.  This was an easy yes.  While I always have butter on hand, there’s also, always a small tub of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! along side it.  In the package I received from Lauren, was a folder with three recipes, a $25 gift card to use toward the purchase of the recipe ingredients, and a lovely serving platter.

I made two out of three of the recipes. After my recipe reviews you’ll see how you can win the same package allowing you to sample a “Reach Right” recipe.

The first recipe I made was Amaretto Cheesecakes in Pastry Shells.  This recipe was very easy.  The toughest part was not eating the filling while you waited for the shells to cool.  My three kiddos really loved these and with only six puff pastry shells and five of us there was some frantic negotiating  for that last one.  So to keep things fair I ate it.  :)  Kidding!

The second recipe I made was Honey-Nut Glazed Brie.  This was my favorite.  Love, love, love those nuts!    I actually took this to party that my neighbor was having so my children didn’t get to try it.  I’m pretty certain they would have loved it too.  The brie was gone well before the party was over so I took that as a sign it was good.  The host and hostess thanks me several times for bring it and mentioned how much they enjoyed it.

Both of these recipes will be making a return appearance in my kitchen.   ( I’ve got big plans for those nuts!)Not only were they “Reach Right ” choices but they were both very easy and quick to put together.  Does this mean I’m done with butter?  Uh, no but it is nice to know that I can use my I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!  for more than buttering my bread.  :)

According to your link, both I can't believe it's not butter and real butter both have 0 grams of trans-fats. But the I can't believe its not butter has fewer saturated fats than the butter. The recipes look awesome and are making me drool. Normally, I only use butter, but may have to pick up some I can't believe its not butter margarine and give it a whirl.

Both the butter and "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" have 0 trans fat. Though the butter does have more total and saturated fat overall.

Recipes look awesome, I may have to try them out =)

Looks like ICBNB wins in all the fat areas.

I basically use butter in all my baking but we always have a tub of ICBNB and the spray in our fridge. I love the spray for our veggies! I also have Smart Balance in the fridge but the difference there is it is much harder to spread than ICBNB!

Great recipes. I'm a brie freak to begin with, but that cheesecake recipe looks like a perfect weekend desesrt!

They both have 0! I had no idea! I was sure ICBINB would've had at least a little. Hmm, I will have to check it out. I'd love to win! :)

The amaretto cheesecake looks totally delicious! So does the brie and nuts. They both have 0 trans fats. I used to use this a long time ago - I think it's time for me to re-visit it.

I just bought a tub of ICBINB for a compound butter. Its been years since I bought any. Neither butter ot ICINB have ant trans fat.
I want to make that brie. It looks fantastic!

Debbie said...

They both have 0 trans fat. Didn't realize you could use ICBINB for these recipes. I'll have to give it a try.

Michelle said...

Since ICBINB is hydrogenated, it is more likely than Butter to have any trans fat (since trans fat is a byproduct of the hydrogenation process, and regular butter as a rule is not hydrogenated). "0g" could just be rounding :).

You are a sneaky one Ingrid ~ they both have zero :) I'm trying both of those recipes ~ they look fabulous!

I've never baked with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter because I feel my desserts need the unsaturated fat (since both have 0 grams fat). All of these desserts look delish :)

Glad you enjoyed the soup! And both have zero:)

Oh, oh, oh! I am dying over that brie! My two sisters-in-law and I are boarder-line obsessed with warm/baked brie and I KNOW we could eat the crap outta that! The sister-in-law that lives out of town is coming to visit in a month-ish, so I will have to make this for one of our family get-togethers... Seriously, I'm swooning over those gooey nuts oozing over that brie!

(Oh, and both have 0g trans fat.)

I like butter and margarine. We always keep both on hand. However, I usually don't use margarine in baking. It's interesting to see recipes that call for a spread. As I understand it, most margarines no longer use hydrogenation, so both butter and margarine have 0 grams of trans fat.

Robin said...

both have 0 trans and I like the brie recipe! but I am a butter gal.

Yum, both of those recipes look divine! I always used ICBINB and now I know why since neither it nor the butter have trans fat. I've never tried it in a recipe before and now I guess I might have to!

Wow! Both real butter & ICBINB have zero grams of trans-fat.. I was sure that butter would have some, with its bad reputation and all! You're trying to trick us !! =)
